CONNIE MAYNORD
I am CONNIE
I am a Southwest Kentucky lady. That might not say it all, but it comes close. I am tall and fair, with a shock of natural red hair that compliments even more so my personality. Succinctly, I am Ireland's Progeny. And coming of age in rural Kentucky instilled in me my Irish influences as surely as if I'd spent my formative years in South Boston. I can curse with the best, I can mangle my verb tenses in the true tradition of the Michael that resides within, or I can be the Bonnie Lass, the rose lipped maiden, that reflects temperance, my social poise and hints at my international travels, all expressed with a dash of Kentucky accent that one might hear in the private boxes at a run for the roses, or down on the field level on Kentucky Derby Day. My wayward travels have taken me to 37 states and 3 countries.
As a young girl, I dreamed of escaping rural Kentucky. It was not easy. I left home, literally, at 18 years of age on a midnight train to Lansing, Michigan where I lived with a treasured aunt who'd modeled, who was likewise a redhead and who stood tall and reveled in the social graces. I had found my role model.
My world, in those early years, opened up amazing possibilities; fashion modeling, evening and bridal runway work, sports wear, swim and workout wear, the hair shows, promos, and catalog work. And there were the difficulties. I returned to Kentucky to pursue a college degree as a single mom. I married one more and brought into my life another wonderful baby boy for whom I was Mom, again, making me mother of two boys under the age of 18 for 30 years of my life!
My nest in now empty, but I have filled it with dreams of inevitabilities. I love my age. As a matter of fact, I was chosen by MORE magazine, recently, to go to New York and to be photographed for two special More Magazine editions. I have appeared as principal actor in a feature film, set in Texas. I am currently engrossed in my acting classes, commercial workshops, and age related modeling. I am wise enough to know now, with my Irish sensibilities, that star dust gets sprinkled on the few. But that is not why I do this. I do this because I love acting. I do this because I know I look the part, can act the part, and expect nothing in return except the opportunity to audition. I hope to see you at our next audition.
